The Okeanus launch and recovery systems (LARS) are designed for dependability, ease-of-use and safe handling of subsea equipment in the harshest environmental conditions. SOSI handling systems have an exemplary track record for safe and efficient operation in high sea state and are designed with the operator in mind.
The fully integrated system, designed and built to launch and recover a free-flying ROV, contains a winch / level wind assembly, self-erecting A-Frame, docking head / over-boarding sheave assembly and electro-hydraulic power unit, all mounted to a single skid. This innovative design allows the entire system to be placed into an ISO flat rack for ease of transport and deployment. To further facilitate rapid mobilization, the ROV is stored on the skid assembly during transport.
The ECO Sheave is an economical, high-quality overboarding sheave designed for use with small diameter electro-mechanical cable, wire rope, or synthetic line. It is intended for use with small to medium sized oceanographic, water quality hydrographic, or geophysical instrumentation; including CTD’s, water samplers, plankton nets, and bottom grab samplers. It is appropriate for use in applications supported by SOSI’s ECO line of winches and instrument handling systems. The ECO Sheave is constructed of stainless steel and has a Delrin® sheave with marine grade bearings, including a sealed roller bearing option. The sheave is available with multiple groove options as well as diameters to accommodate common instrumentation cables.
